Event Recap:

Battle of the Bands | July 1, 2011

St. Albert youth put on an epic Battle of the Bands on Canada Day to a huge crowd of appreciating fans! The winner received a 500 recording package from Innovations Music and the opportunity to play at the city’s Rendezvous Picnic on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

Soapbox Derby | June 19, 2011

The Father’s Day Soapbox Derby was hugely popular in spite of the rain that drizzled down all day. Excited parents cheered on the soapbox racers as they zoomed down St. Vital Avenue on Sunday, June 19, 2011. The spectators enjoyed a chance to see the wonderfully creative efforts that went into each car and to take in the festive atmosphere.

We are especially pleased that St. Albert’s soapbox racing days are just beginning with the Rockin’ August Committee announcing that they will take over this event in the future!

Meet the Street | June 12, 2011

Meet the Street was a resounding success! On June 12, 2011 nearly 300 people piled on 7 city buses and were taken to various streets around St. Albert to see short plays about the lives of the people our streets are named after.

The day ended with bannock and lemonade at the grotto behind St. Albert Parish while everyone enjoyed the final performance of the day — Paul Punyi as Father Albert Lacombe!

A huge thank you to the volunteers, city staff, cast and crew who made this day unforgettable!
